Sometimes, the moment existed only because someone took a chance when the original plan stopped working. These little twists created scenes audiences still remember decades later, even though they could have easily disappeared before anyone saw them. Giant Animals

Exhibitions of giant animals, be them extinct or otherwise, have always been a thing. This one is from an exposition in St. Luis, back in 1901.

In Construction

Seeing the St. Luis World Fair under construction is quite a fascinating sight, particularly for the people that have been there recently. We often take the buildings that surround us for granted, but back in 1904, this wasn’t even finished.

Did you know that Uncle Sam was based on a real person? This is Samuel Wilson, a meat packer from New York who supplied rations for the soldiers during the war of 1812.
