This didn’t be the last time we hear about this landmark legal case from 2009 if the answer to Jack Thorne‘s fresh inspired-by-a-true-story Netflix drama Toxic Town is half as energised as the common response to last year’s Mr Bates vs. the Post Office. The four-part series explores the true history of a group of moms in the Northamptonshire city who had babies born with different upper and lower limbs as a result of toxic waste being released by Corby Borough Council’s careless management of recovered wasteland.

Toxic Town has a strong cast that includes players from Doctor Who, Downton Abbey, Game of Thrones, Sexual Education, Trainspotting, and many more. Find out who the figures are playing below and who they are.

Susan McIntyre as Jodie Whittaker

Susan McIntyre is a true Corby tenant and the family of Connor McIntyre, who was born with an upper arm change as a result of chemicals from dangerous brownfield sites entering Susan&#8217’s program while she was pregnant. She was one of 18 people who, along with counsel Des Collins, brought Corby Borough Council to justice in 2009 and had babies who had been harmed by the waste.

She was portrayed by previous Doctor Who professional Jodie Whittaker, who starred in the second series of Jimmy McGovern’s prison-set drama Time between 2017 and 2022 and who continues to tone the 13th Doctor in music stories. Suranne Jones and Whittaker will soon be seen together in the crime crisis Frauds.

Aimee Lou Wood portrays Tracey Taylor

Tracey Taylor is another actual Corby citizen whose home was severely impacted by the poisons that were carried out by debris from the recovered steelworks site. Matthew Durkan portrays her father Mark.

He and his agency also represent train accident victims from the Southall and Paddington road disasters, as the drama mentions.

He&#8217, a much-loved British actor ( and, incidentally, the son of another well-loved actor: Roy Kinnear ), was recently seen in the role of Dave in Bank of Dave&#8221, Fishwick in Netflix&#8217, the first movie. He has appeared in numerous Bond movies, portrayed John Clare in the movie City of Angels, and most recently, has appeared in The Diplomat and The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.

Karla Crome, the playwright, plays Pattie Walker, a character whose child was born with leg differences as a result of the waste. In addition to the BBC comedy-drama Am I Being Ridiculous, Crome’s biggest earlier roles include Delinquents, Under the Dome, and Carnival Row.
