No one would contest the series ‘ portrayal of LGBTQ+ people as particularly sensitive, but the queer characters and a discussion of their rights ‘ stories indirectly injected important subjects into popular culture. The former wife of Ross’s ( David Schwimmer ) ex-wife and her partner is portrayed in the same Friends sappiness that fans soon fell in love with. Although there are plenty of old jokes, the fact that there was an entire season dedicated to a lesbian wedding was groundbreaking and merits value in the mythology of Pride moments in comedy history.
