This won’t be the last time we hear about this site legal case from 2009 if the answer to Jack Thorne‘s fresh inspired-by-a-true-story Netflix drama Toxic Town is half as energised as the common response to last year’s Mr Bates vs. the Post Office. The four-part set explores the true history of a group of parents in the Northamptonshire city whose babies were born with upper and lower limb variations, as well as other health problems as a result of toxins released by Corby Borough Council’s careless management of restored landscape.

Toxic Town has a strong cast that includes players from Doctor Who, Downton Abbey, Game of Thrones, Sexual Education, Trainspotting, and many more, as well as a serious tale. Find out who the figures are playing below and who they are.

Susan McIntyre as Jodie Whittaker

Susan McIntyre is a true Corby tenant and the family of Connor McIntyre, who was born with an upper arm change as a result of poisons from dangerous brownfield sites entering Susan&#8217’s program while she was pregnant. She was one of 18 women who, along with solicitor Des Collins, brought Corby Borough Council to justice in 2009 and had children who had been harmed by the toxins.

She was portrayed by former Doctor Who actor Jodie Whittaker, who starred in the second series of Jimmy McGovern’s prison-set drama Time between 2017 and 2022 and who continues to voice the 13th Doctor in audio stories. Suranne Jones and Whittaker will soon be seen together in the crime drama Frauds.

Aimee Lou Wood portrays Tracey Taylor

Another real Corby resident, Tracey Taylor, had a significant impact on her family when dust from the reclaimed steelworks site contaminated the home. Matthew Durkan portrays her husband Mark.

Aimee Lou Wood, who first appeared in Netflix’s teen comedy-drama Sex Education and co-starred Ncuti Gatwa and Emma Mackey, plays Tracey in the role. She has since been booked and busy. Wood is currently appearing in season three of the hottest show on HBO&#8217, The White Lotus opposite Walton Goggins, and has previously starred with Bill Nighy in the feature film Living. He also recently starred in a second series of BBC comedy Daddy Issues with David Morrissey.

Des Collins, Rory Kinnear

Des Collins is the real lawyer who spearheaded the negligence lawsuit against Corby Borough Council along with 18 of the mothers whose miscarriages were impacted by the toxins. He and his firm also represent train crash victims from the Southall and Paddington rail disasters, as mentioned in the drama.

He&#8217, a much-loved British actor ( and, incidentally, the son of another well-loved actor: Roy Kinnear ), was recently seen in the role of Dave in Bank of Dave&#8221, Fishwick in Netflix&#8217, the first movie. He has appeared in numerous Bond movies, played John Clare in the sequel City of Angels, recently appeared in The Diplomat, and played Tom Bombadil in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.

Brendan Coyle portrays Roy Thomas

As it says in the closing credits of Toxic Town&#8216 ;&#8220 ;… on a number of men, none of whom lived to see their plans for Corby fully realized, the Labour deputy leader and then leader Roy Thomas is a fictionalized character. &#8221,

He is played by Brendan Coyle, who is well known for his roles as the Earl of Grantham and Mr. Bates in the Downton Abbey TV series and feature film spin-offs. He previously acted in the roles of Robert in Lark Rise to Candleford and Bates in the BBC crime drama Requiem and the film Mary Queen of Scots, and he also acted in the roles of Robert in the literary adaptations North and South to Dangerfield and others.

Robert Carlyle portrays Sam Hagen

Real Corby Borough Councillor Sam Hagen raised concerns about corner-cutting during the reclamation process of the steelworks. His memorial is the focus of toxic town.

He&#8217, who was played by Scottish actor Robert Carlyle, who rose to fame in the 1990s after appearing on television in the likes of Jimmy McGovern, Cracker, and the BBC, Hamish Macbeth, and in Trainspotting and The Full Monty, before taking the lead in the TV sequel to The Full Monty and taking the lead in the lead role in the political thriller COBRA.

Joe Dempsie portrays Derek Mahon

Derek Mahon, who actually worked for the company at the time the groundworks were being done at the former steelworks reclamation site, was an actual employee. A child was affected by the toxins that were released as a result of his and his wife Maggie Mahon ( played by Bridgerton and Line of Duty actress Claudia Jessie ). He&#8217, who is played by Joe Dempsie, a well-known actor whose career began with the Channel 4 teen drama Skins and later gained roles in Game of Thrones, Adult Material, Showtrial, and numerous other acclaimed dramas. He will soon appear in the Crime TV series Get Millie Black on Channel 4.

Karla Crome portrays Pattie Walker

Pattie Walker, a character whose child was born with limb differences as a result of the toxins, is played by actor-writer Karla Crome. In addition to the BBC comedy-drama Am I Being Unreasonable, Crome’s biggest previous roles include Misfits, Under the Dome, and Carnival Row.
