James Bond: May Denis Villeneuve Bring Joy Back to 007

Villeneuve, Denis Villeneuve, is the given brand. You probably already knew it well, whether it was for some of the gripping character studies from his early career, such as Prisoners, Sicario, and Enemy, or more likely because of Arrival, Blade Runner 2049, and the new Dune movies ( Oscar nominees only ), but you didn’t until now. Yet even ]… ]

The first article James Bond: May Denis Villeneuve Bring Joy Up to 007 was a Den of Geek blog.

There may not be an answer, but there was a time before the net, before the movies, perhaps before Revenge of the Jedi was given the new name Return of the Jedi. There was a time when Star Wars was a relatively new phenomenon. And finally, one of the franchise’s biggest supporters, age 11, named Rusty Miller, made the decision to write the second Star Wars exam guide and made it happen.

Matt ( née Rusty ) explained in a 2020 interview with Skywalking Through Neverland that” the inspiration for this book was the work of J. R. Tolkien, of which I was also a huge fan. And since there wasn’t a Star Wars trivia book, I spent the summer of 1981 coming up with around 600 issues. My parents sent a text to Del Rey, who in change sent it to Lucasfilm after finishing the book.

Unsurprisingly, the book almost didn’t occur in 1982’s more innocent settings ( at least in terms of band-building ). There was no compelling reason for Lucasfilm to release the work of tweenage fans until George Lucas himself heard about the job and saved it from being canceled. The Jedi Master’s Quizbook debuted on the New York Times bestseller list soon after, and, according to its author, has sold more than a million files.

The only copies of the Jedi Master&#8217, Quizbook that you’re likely to get in the thrift shop, your favorite second-hand website book store, or your neighborhood Companions of the Bank business will be in 2025, which is exactly how I got my own version. The dog-eared print has a lot of admiration and once belonged to a person whose name appears in the pages several times.

For the first time in a long time as I scoured through it, I was blown away by Rusty &#8217’s broad Star Wars information as well as what the guide said about how persona, companies, the concept of cannon, and Star Wars itself have changed over the years. &nbsp,

Issues like &#8220: Who did Bend fight at the Cantina? A wonderful illustration of how some things never change, is shown in the &#8221, and its response &#8220, Snaggletooth, and &#8221, the name of the figure that was packaged with the Kenner toys of the personality. Toys have always been a significant factor in determining and revealing cannon. Users, fans, and filmmakers are all dealing with that now, which is something they all still struggle with. The struggles to create art under socialism are the same, but the response to Rusty’s issue is unique. Snivvian man Zutton’s name has now become Snaggletooth. &nbsp,

Rusty carefully researched what was available at the time, including Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Up, and any information he could get about the upcoming third movie, as well as the burgeoning Star Wars publishing activities. This was years before the computer. As many Star Wars fans are aware, Return of the Jedi was going to be called Revenge of the Jedi in another delightful time capsule. Because the title hadn’t yet been changed as a result of Lucas ‘ decision that Jedi can’t feel or seek revenge, that’s what Rusty put in his response. Before Revenge of the Sith, that word was saved for decades.

The idea of the canon and even titling changing nature of canon and even titling is present throughout the book. It also serves as a reminder that, despite everything, some things never change, or at least they do so enough to return to their starting place.

Marvel Comics was responsible for the well-known Star Wars comics when Miller collated the Jedi Master&#8217, s Quiz Book, a fact that Miller and others find to be true in 2025. However, I can tell you that hasn’t always been the case as someone who has witnessed almost four decades of Star Wars fandom. For instance, Dark Horse produced many of the most well-known and well-known Star Wars comics. However, as the tides change, so do publishing trends. The Star Wars comic book license was given back to Dark Horse after Lucasfilm’s sale to Disney, but it is currently being shared by both publishers.

Although it’s an unwritten rule, the only requirement for making a Star Wars project is to write a story by committee, with decades of canon and continuity to contend with in 2025. In contrast, Quiz Book Miller appeared almost to be the only person in the Star Wars canon in The Jedi Master&#8217, something that most fans would never hope to achieve. His dedication and commitment to a galaxy far, far away meant that many young children also had the opportunity to open up this book and keep track of the details and canon contained within it. Rusty Miller became one of the earliest in a long tradition of fans to take canon, sort it, and define it with his own hands in a time before Wikipedia and the internet in general. &nbsp,

One of Miller &#8217’s most enjoyable aspects is that you can learn new details or details about the film that fit into your own personal Star Wars canon. For example in Rusty &#8217, s quiz book the answer to &#8220, What is Artoo&#8217, s robot classification? As that &#8217 is what he was called in the novelization of the movie, “is” Thermocapsulary dehousing assister, &#8221, as that &#8217, is. That sluggish classification would soon be completely replaced by Astromech, at least until the “full” title was mentioned in the 2015 Star Wars comics. What canon and what would later be relegated to the non-canon world of Legends are also fascinating to learn. &nbsp,

Although Jedi Master&#8217, the Quiz Book, is regarded as a significant addition to canon right now, the world of Star Wars was rapidly expanding and the lore was beginning to develop. The expanded Star Wars universe had truly begun thanks to the early interactions between the movies and the novelizations, such as the would-be-sequel story Splinter of the Mind&#8217, Alan Dean Foster’s Eye, and Marvel Comics. Which would hilariously immediately lead to canonical misunderstandings, such as the fact that X-Wing pilot Porkins was given the callsign Blue 4 when he was Red 6 in the movie. He wasn’t the only one either; Wedge Antilles was given the name” Blue 2!” &nbsp,

The one thing that remains constant is that fans have always been the keepers of these franchises and their facts in a world where we couldn’t be further from the circumstances that led to the creation of the Jedi Masters Quiz Book. It&#8217, is that enthusiasm and enthusiasm that still piques fans ‘ wiki pages and fills convention centers year round. Rusty Miller, thank you for being our fandom bearer! &nbsp,
